Eco/Natural History Tours
(Half or Full Day)
Come explore the biological diversity and island jewels of Penobscot
and Muscongus Bays with our naturalists. On this tour, nature will be
our focus as we use the sea kayak as our vehicle to discover the diverse
marine and bird life in and around the nutrient-rich waters of the Maine
coast. We will meet at the Boat Barn of the Landings Restaurant on the
Rockland waterfront (near the public landing unless other arrangements are made) and from here, leave for
our destination for the day. Rather, your tour will unfold as we choose
our path based on the richness of the wildlife we experience and our
curiosity to discover and observe what we find. We may see seals on ledges,
osprey flying overhead, and eagles soaring. Bird migrations may treat
us to waves of warblers or sights of shorebirds along mudflats and floating
rockweed. Opportunities to see various birds and plants abound. We will
stop on an island for a delicious picnic lunch and to explore the fascinating
inter-tidal zone and plants of the shoreline. This is a wonderful trip
for anyone interested in the natural history of the Maine coast.
