Owls Head Lighthouse & State Park Tour (7 hours)
This tour is for those with a full day for exploration and fun. We will leave the Boat Barn of the Landings Restaurant on the Rockland waterfront (near the public landing) in Rockland Harbor for Owls Head State Park. While we paddle along the protected southern shoreline, we will search the exposed ledges and coast for seals and shorebirds, watch lobstermen pull up their catch, search the spruce-laden shoreline for Osprey and eagles, and enjoy the pulse of the waves. Upon arriving at the rugged headland of the park, we will land on a small gravel beach to enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch at the park’s picnic tables. The park trails offer a chance for us to hike to the Owls Head lighthouse and enjoy expansive views of Penobscot Bay and its many island jewels. When we paddle back towards historic Rockland Harbor, looking for wildlife, we will have spectacular views of the breakwater lighthouse and the Camden Hills.
